Hello everyone!! Today I'm going to write about the changes that would make to my career, Dentistry at Universidad de Chile.
First, about the workload and length of studies, I think that the career of Dentistry should last 7 years, because with de new curriculum we have subjects that condense a lot of matter of different areas into a single topic. Okay, it's good the idea of being able to integrate the matter from the beginning, but a lot of topics we see very superficially, and then the teachers ask us about things that ''we should know'' but they never told us. Before, there was a complete subject for each of the 5 or 6 topics we have on a single subject or "UTE", and they viewed the content of each in depth, but the curriculum had other problems. So, I think that if the career lasted 7 years, we could address all issues in depth and the academic burden would diminish.
Second, about the faculty facilities, I think it would be good to repair the facilities of the preclinicals, since that is where we have our first approach with the simulation of what it means to attend a patient. and we have many things in poor condition that make this difficult. like the lights, some hoses, the false heads and others.
Third, about the upper courses that have clinical practices, and what awaits us from next year, I have heard that there are some problems of disorganization, and besides, a problem that is necessary to correct in multiple faculties of dentistry is that many students fail subjects and are delayed a full year because they depend on the commitment of the patients, something that comes out of their control.
I hope that one day this problems end.
Thank u for reading :)
